Havas elevates EDF to forefront of Czech Republic’s historic nuclear project


The proposed construction of a new nuclear reactor – potentially expanding up to four reactors – within the Czech Republic represents the country’s largest ever contractual undertaking.

French multinational, EDF, a prominent player in the global energy sector, stands as a pivotal contender in this ground-breaking endeavour. 

Recognising the need for strategic guidance through the complexities of this significant undertaking, EDF has selected Havas RED as its communication and public affairs ally. 

Havas RED responded by crafting a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with EDF’s vision, encapsulated by the slogan, “New energy for the Czech Republic.” The strategy spans the creation of dynamic website content, engaging social media initiatives across platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, the deployment of captivating billboards, and the orchestration of EDF’s presence at major industry events.  

Additionally, the strategy included the execution of educational programs, collaboration with media outlets, and the production of concise, informative videos featuring potential subcontractors. A critical component of our approach involved skilful public affairs services, ensuring multifaceted and impactful engagement. 

Our collaboration extended to coordinating between EDF’s teams in both the local context and Paris, alongside contact with the French embassy. This cooperation facilitated key diplomatic engagements, including meetings between Presidents Petr Pavel and Emmanuel Macron, and significant visits by Czech leadership to EDF’s headquarters and the French Minister of Energy, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, to Prague. 

Over the course of the partnership, Havas RED has worked to bring about a positive media portrayal of EDF and bolstered the brand’s recognition among the Czech population. Our digital engagement strategies have attracted tens of thousands of visitors to EDF’s website, while our social media campaigns on X have amassed over five million views. Most notably, our efforts have repositioned EDF from a passive contender to the frontrunner in this critical tender process.
