Czech railways compare the carbon footprint of trains against that of cars in a new campaign

Recently, the non-profit organization and charitable trust CI2 quantified the carbon footprint of trains and set this against that of cars. The result was clear – trains are simply more ecologically friendly than cars.

To dramatize the comparison Havas has created a campaign showing what your car would look like if it were to produce the same emissions as a train – a lot smaller. In fact it would have to be four times smaller – which is precisely the message of the new campaign.

The main intention was to raise awareness in the public eye about the sustainability issues, emissions of CO2, and an overall burden on the planet caused by road transport which handles 72% of all emissions in the Czech Republic. When you choose a train for your travel, you can not only enjoy the comfort and other benefits but also a good feeling that you are more considerate of nature and travel with a four times lower carbon footprint than a car.

The campaign targets families and younger people and was shot by Miro Minarovich.

Look out for it on billboards near you, as well as in print and online. Or visit the website at cd.cz/vlakemEKO/.
